Mynato is a dictation app for macOS, made by Aryan F, trading name of Franz Dsa, an individual based in India.

This page explains what Mynato does with your information. The short version: your voice and the words you dictate never leave your Mac. Everything below is detail.

Your audio recordingsNever leave your Mac. Deleted after they are transcribed.
The text you dictateNever leaves your Mac. We never see it.
Usage statisticsOnly if you switch them on. Counts only, never content.
Your email addressOnly if you start a trial or buy a licence.
Payment detailsWe never see them. Our payment provider handles them.
Selling your dataNever. Not to anyone, for any purpose.
Advertising or trackingNone. No ad networks, no trackers, no profiles.

Your voice and your words

Mynato records audio when you hold the dictation key, converts it to text on your own computer using a speech model stored on your Mac, and types the result where your cursor is.

No part of this touches the internet. There is no server involved. The recording is written to a temporary file on your Mac, transcribed there, and deleted immediately afterwards.

We never receive, store, transmit or process your audio or your transcribed text. We could not produce it if we were asked to, because we never have it.

If you turn on Mynato's history feature, your past transcriptions are saved on your own Mac, in your user Library folder, so you can look them up. They stay there. You can clear them at any time from Settings.

Starting a trial

Starting the 30-day trial needs an email address. When you start one, Mynato tells us your email address, the date the trial started, the date it ends, and which version of the app you are using.

We use that to send you your download, to answer you if something goes wrong, and to let you know before the trial ends. Nothing about what you dictated is included.

Usage statistics — off unless you turn them on

Mynato can send us anonymous usage statistics. This is switched off by default. We ask once, plainly, when you first set the app up. If you say no, nothing is sent, the app behaves in exactly the same way, and we do not ask again.

If you switch it on, we receive counts only:

  • How many dictations you have made
  • How many words, and how many seconds of audio, in total
  • Which features you have used, as numbers — for example how many times the local API was called
  • Which app the text was typed into, from a fixed list of well-known applications that ships inside Mynato. If the app you are using is not on that list, it is recorded simply as "other", and its name never leaves your Mac. You can read the whole list in Settings.
  • Your Mynato version and your macOS version
  • Whether you are on a trial, free, or paid licence

We never receive, whether or not you switch statistics on:

  • Any audio, ever
  • Any of the words you dictate, ever — not a sample, not a fragment
  • What you typed on your keyboard, your clipboard, or your screen contents
  • The titles of your windows, the names of your documents, or the web pages you visit
  • The names of applications that are not on the published list
  • Your files, your contacts, or your location

Why we collect this: to understand which features are worth improving and which applications Mynato should work better with. You can switch it off at any time in Settings, and it stops immediately.

Your account and your email address

If you start a trial or buy a licence, we store your email address, when your trial started and ended, what licence you hold and whether it is active, and which country your purchase was made from — the last of those because we are required to keep tax records.

We use your email address to send you your licence, to tell you about your trial, and occasionally to tell you about Mynato. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link and unsubscribing works immediately. We do not sell, rent or share your email address with anyone.

Payments

We do not process payments ourselves and we never see your card details.

Payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Limited, who act as the merchant of record — meaning Paddle is legally the seller and handles payment processing and sales tax. Your card details go to Paddle and never reach us. Their privacy policy governs what they do with them.

We receive only what we need to give you your licence and keep tax records: your email address, the amount, the currency, and the country of purchase.

Mynato's local API

Mynato can run a small server on your own computer so that your own scripts and automations can trigger dictation.

This is switched off unless you turn it on. When it is on, it accepts connections only from your own machine and only with a secret token that Mynato generates for you. It is not reachable from the internet or from anyone else on your network, and nothing about it sends anything to us.

What Mynato's permissions are for

macOS asks you to grant Mynato two permissions:

  • Microphone — so it can hear you when you hold the dictation key. It records only while you hold it.
  • Accessibility — so it can type the text into whatever app you are using. This is the whole product. It also means Mynato is technically capable of typing anywhere. Mynato never types anything you did not dictate.

Children

Mynato is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including the EU and UK under GDPR, and India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act — you have the right to ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it.

Because we hold so little, this is usually quick. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you ask us to delete your data we will, though we must keep purchase records for as long as tax law requires.

How long we keep things

  • Audio: deleted immediately after transcription, on your Mac. We never have it.
  • Usage statistics, if you enabled them: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Your email and licence: kept while your licence is active, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Where your data is held

Our trial, licence and statistics records are stored with Cloudflare, whose network replicates them across data centres worldwide. Payment records are held by Paddle.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will tell you by email or in the app. We will never make a change that sends your audio or your dictated text anywhere. That is a design decision, not a policy one, and it is not on the table.
